Reward offered in ATV Theft
Elba Chief of Police Freddy Hanchey this week announced a reward is being offered in a theft case currently under investigation by his department.
Chief Hanchey said a 2006 Honda TRX 450 (4-wheeler ATV) was stolen from a residence on Davis Street in Elba some time between Sunday, Oct. 28, and Wednesday, Oct. 31. He said the owner filed a report regarding the theft on Wednesday, Oct. 31, after the ATV was discovered missing.
While a dollar amount was not specified, Hanchey said a reward is being offered for the recovery of the ATV and/or the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the theft. The 4-wheeler is black with silver decals (as shown in the photo).
Hanchey encourages anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity during this time frame to contact the Elba Police Department (897-2555) immediately.
In two other unrelated thefts, Chief Hanchey also requests the public’s assistance in locating some stolen merchandise.
Some time within the past couple of months, Hanchey said several items were taken from a storage building on Morrow Street in Elba. Items taken from the building included an antique porcelain icebox, antique meat scales, antique kerosene heater, two antique trunks, a 30-gallon honey extractor and several other items.
In a recent theft of a local business, Chief Hanchey said a Hussmann produce cooler was taken.
Again, he encouraged anyone with information about these thefts or the items taken to contact the Elba Police Department at 897-2555. The investigation into these thefts continues.
As the holiday season approaches, Chief Hanchey said it is extremely important for local citizens to pay attention to their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity and/or suspicious people.
