Elba Elementary students earn money for school through ‘BoxTops for Education’
Would one throw a dime in the trash? Most likely not!
Students at Elba Elementary School have learned that throwing away BoxTops for Education coupons is like throwing away money. This past school year, EES students earned $761.90 through the BoxTops for Education program.
It’s easy. All one has to do is clip the BoxTops for Education coupon from selected products and bring it to the school. Each coupon is worth 10 cents.
A challenge was issued at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year, and EES students responded by collecting coupons at home and bring them to school. Each grading period, the class that brought in the most was rewarded with a popcorn party.
The 1st and 4th nine weeks class winner was Mrs. Sasha O’Neal’s second grade class. The winner for the 2nd nine weeks was Mrs. Shirlon Dye’s fourth grade class, and the winner for the 3rd nine weeks was Ms. Pam McCollough’s fifth grade class.
Students have been encouraged to continue collecting BoxTops over the summer so their class during the 2012-2013 school year, beginning Aug. 20th, can have a head start on becoming the winning class.
For any person that would like to submit BoxTops for Education coupons to Elba Elementary School, these can be given to any EES student or faculty member. The school hopes to double its profits next school year, and with the community’s help this goal can be achieved.
For additional information about the program, contact the elementary school at 897-2814 or visit the BoxTops for Education website at: www.boxtopsforeducation.com. Please do not throw this money in the trash!
