Murder suspects trial set for September in Elba

Freddie Caldwell Jr. of Elba, the man facing a murder charge for allegedly killing Evelyn Carpenter in November 2010, was in court last week.
The murder charge Caldwell faces stems from a Nov. 19, 2010 incident where officials said Carpenter suffered a fatal stab wound on one of her legs between the knee and hip.
As Caldwell appeared before Circuit Judge Jeff Kelley last week, it was reported that an offer had been made to him and his attorney, but that offer was declined. Caldwell’s case is now set for trial with jury selection slated for Sept. 12th. The trial is set to begin on Sept. 13th at the Courthouse in Elba.
