Coffee County Schools announces JumpStart dates for kindergarten

Thursday, Aug 02,2012

Jumpstart for the Coffee County Schools – Kinston, New Brockton and Zion Chapel – will be held Aug. 15-16 from 8-11 a.m. both days.
Jumpstart is a two day program that allows incoming kindergarten students an orientation opportunity before the beginning of school.  Each day is three hours in length during which time the students are exposed to a mini kindergarten schedule, allowed to tour the building, and introduced to their teacher as well as several other staff members.
On the first day all students and parents are to report to the school with their beginning school supplies. The students will then go with their teacher to the classroom. The parents will remain in the library/lunchroom for an orientation meeting with the principal.
When this meeting is completed the parents will go to their child’s room for a meeting with the teacher. During the parent/teacher meeting the teacher will explain her discipline plan, class schedule, rules, drop off/pick up procedure for students, answer questions, and collect lunch/snack money for the first week of school.
All new kindergarten students are encouraged to attend.
