Kindergarten JumpStart at Elba Elementary set for Aug. 7th & 8th

Thursday, Aug 02,2012

JumpStart will be held at Elba Elementary School on Tuesday, Aug. 7, and Wednesday, Aug. 8, for students entering kindergarten in Elba this upcoming school year.
The program will begin each day at 8 a.m. and conclude at 11 a.m. Parents should provide transportation for their student.
A snack will be provided for students each day during the JumpStart program.
JumpStart is provided in order for new kindergarten students to become familiar with their new school before the other students arrive. Students will meet their kindergarten teacher and other key school personnel and begin learning routines that will be important for a successful school year.
Parents are encouraged to accompany their child on the first day of JumpStart and remain for an important orientation session. If parents are unable to attend this orientation session, another orientation session will be held for kindergarten parents on Monday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
It is not necessary for parents to attend both sessions.
On the first day of JumpStart students are encouraged to bring their school supplies and parents are encouraged to pay lunch and snack money for the beginning of the regular school year.
Students who have not previously registered for school can be registered during JumpStart. An Alabama shot record (blue card), a Social Security card, a certified birth certificate and proof of residence are needed to enroll new students. Students should turn 5-years-old on or before Sept. 2, 2012 to be eligible to attend kindergarten this school year.
