Sam Winston Davis

Sam Winston Davis, Sr. age 89 of Elba, Alabama passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at Noland Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. 

Funeral services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 9th, beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Doug Knight, Rev. Sam Self, and Rev. Randy Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in New Home cemetery in the Basin Community with Hayes Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9th, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Mr. Davis proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He returned home and later retired from Civil Service. He will be remembered as an avid horse lover, and often wore his hounds tooth hat in support of his beloved Crimson Tide.

Survivors include his Daughter- Salome (Bruce) Wilson, of Enterprise, AL, Grandson - Kim (Stephanie) Wilson of Enterprise, AL, Grandson – Kevin (Michelle) Wilson of Deane, KY, Grandson - Greg Davis of Kinston, AL, Grandson - Gary (Wendy) Davis of Elba, AL, Grandson - Christopher (Marsha) Jordan also of Elba, AL. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Emma Irene Davis, son Sam Winston Davis, Jr., daughter Sandra Davis Jordan, and a grandson Jason David Jordan.
