Emergency personnel in Elba responded Monday afternoon, Aug. 13, at approximately 5:17 p.m., to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on the 203 Bypass in front of the Elba Chevron Travel Center and the Shoppes at Taylor Crossing. Upon arrival they found that a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 truck, driven by Kayla Amanda Mallory – age 17 of Elba, had collided into the back of a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado truck, driven by Kimberly Singleton – age 16 of Kinston. Reports indicate the Chevrolet truck was stopped in the roadway waiting to make a left turn into the Shoppes at Taylor Crossing when Mallory’s vehicle hit it in the rear. In all, officials said five people were transported to the Elba General Hospital by Coffee County EMS from the scene, including the two drivers, two passengers from the Dodge truck and one passenger from the Chevrolet truck. While the exact extent of injuries was unknown at the time, it did not appear any were life threatening. Those taken to the hospital included (from the Dodge truck) Kayla Amanda Mallory – age 17, Tia Kelley – age 17, and Adeana Gray – age 13, all of Elba; and (from the Chevrolet truck) Kimberly Singleton, age 16, of Kinston, and Tracy Lane Singleton, age 36, of Jack, Ala.
