William Harold "Bill" Peters

Mr. William Harold "Bill" Peters, age 87, of Elba, Ala., died Tuesday, May 3, 2022, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Bill will be remembered as a faithful friend who was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed farm life, and could easily be found tending cows, raking hay, or near the barn with his horse. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was also an active Mason for over 65 years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, 2022, from the Chapel of Hayes Funeral Home in Elba with Rev. Donnie Marler and Rev. Mack King officiating. Burial followed in Rosin Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. He received Masonic grand funeral honors at the conclusion of the graveside service.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Katie Bell Sara “Louisa” Jane Kelley Peters, and J.D. Peters, along with a daughter, Kathy Peters. 

Survivors include his wife: Faye Peters, Elba; daughters: Barbara Anne Peters, Fort Pierce, Fla., Rebecca "Becky" Lynn (David) Owens, Ponce De Leon, Fla.; sons: John Daniel (Kim) Peters, Fort Pierce, Fla., William Harold Peters II, Vero Beach, Fla.; a brother: Ronnie K. Peters, Elba; along with 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
