Lowe's grant to Elba teacher

Elba science teacher Phillip Smith (center) is shown receiving his $5,000 grant check from the Lowe’s Toolbox for Education program. Pictured with Smith presenting the check are several local Lowe’s employees.

Phillip Smith, science teacher at Elba High School, recently was awarded a $5,000 grant from Lowe’s to renovate his classroom. Smith said he plans to bring it up-to-date with flat screen TV’s, Chromebooks, flexible seating, and a fresh coat of paint. When students return in the Fall they will walk into a modernized classroom setting just right for an educational experience in science. Smith and Elba City Schools are very appreciative of Lowe’s for its commitment to schools and education!
