Weather always plays a role when fishing; there are easy days and challenging days. The Zion Chapel Bass Team faced a weather delay Saturday, March 25, when they fished Lake Martin; however, the daunting weather cleared and allowed the team to have a productive day of fishing.

Two Zion Chapel students revealed their plans last week to play football at the next level by signing letters of intent with the Faulkner University Eagles.

The Elba Tigers bounced back from an early week loss to Brantley 67-56 to claim wins over Wicksburg 63-51 and Samson 77-22 to push their win total for the season to 15, and improve their season record to 15-12.

The Elba Tigers continued to battle area foes last week on the basketball court and while they claimed an important 74-25 road win over the Houston County Lions, a second half meltdown resulted in a 78-45 home loss to the Florala Wildcats as their area record slipped to 2-2.

The Elba Tigers hosted the second annual Pea River Christmas Classic last week and posted wins over Emmanuel Christian 75-33 and Goshen 49-37 to reach the tourney finals, but were forced to settle for second in the eight-team event as they fell to Brantley 51-43, in the championship game.
