Alabama Dixie Baseball will begin its 2019 ‘State Tournaments’ this week with three teams from Coffee County set to make the long ride to Tuscaloosa to compete against the state’s best youth teams. All three tournaments will all be held at the Bowers Recreation Complex, with games set to begin on Friday July 12, and continue until state champions are crowned on Monday, July 15. Following are previews of the local All-Star teams that will compete this weekend:

Kinston All-Stars Dixie Baseball AA

The Kinston All-Stars will compete in the Dixie AA State Baseball Tournament and will be looking to continue their banner season and bring home a state title. The All-Stars will begin play in the eight-team tournament on Friday, July 12, at 3:00 pm when they battle Beauregard. A win will move the All-Stars into a Saturday showdown against the winner of the Ashford-Haleyville game at 11:00 am, while an opening round loss would move the All-Stars into an early morning contest on Saturday at 9:00 am against the loser of the Ashford-Haleyville game. If the All-Stars avoid early elimination, they will play again on Saturday at either 2:00 pm in a loser’s bracket game, or at 4:00 in the winner’s bracket finals. A pair of 7:00 pm games is set for Sunday, with the finals set for Monday at 1:00 pm. Teams in the annual statewide event include South Bibb, Abbeville, Munford, Metro, Kinston, Beauregard, Ashford and Haleyville. Kinston earned its spot at the state tournament by winning the District Tournament in mid-June, and team members include Easton Parker, Rylen Hawthorne, Evan Hilburn, Jhett Creech, Parker Weeks, William Smith, Ryan Blair, Bentley Smith, Jacob Fitzpatrick, Luke Carnley, Ben Kilpatrick, and Tucker Davis. Coaches are Andy Sanders, Justin Creech, Anthony Weeks and Brian Hawthorne.

Coffee County All-Stars Dixie Baseball AAA

The Coffee County All-Stars will compete in the Dixie AAA State Baseball Tournament and will be looking to continue their recent winning ways and bring home a state title. The All-Stars will begin play in the ten-team tournament on Friday, July 12, at 1:00 pm with an opening round match-up against South Bibb. A win will move the All-Stars into a Saturday contest against the winner of the Heflin-Fayette clash at 11:00 am, while a loss will put the All-Stars into a loser’s bracket game against the loser of the Heflin-Fayette game in a 9:00 am, elimination contest. If the All-Stars avoid early elimination, they will either play in a winner’s bracket game on Saturday at 4:00 pm, or another loser’s bracket game at 2:00 pm. A total of five games at on tap for Sunday beginning at 3:00 pm, with the finals set for Monday at 10:00 am. Teams in the annual statewide event include South Bibb, Coffee County, Heflin, Fayette, Ashford, Phil Campbell, Bellingrath, Valley, Northside and Lexington. Coffee County punched its ticket to the state tournament by winning the District Tournament in mid-June, and team members include Easton McKelvy, Jaden Deaundry Baker, Cole Shehee, Powell Timothy Bane, Caden Kyles, Levi Martin, James Griffin Wood, Colton Williams Starling, William Jeff Adkison, Dawson Keith Smith, Kylen Radcliffe and Cayden Wallace. Coaches are Ashton McKelvy, Blake Wood and Brandon Adkison.

Zion Chapel All-Stars Dixie Baseball O-Zone

The Zion Chapel All-Stars will compete in the Dixie O-Zone State Baseball Tournament and will be looking to continue their historic season and bring home a state title. The All-Stars will begin play in the ten-team state tournament on Friday, July 12, with a clash against Lamar County at 4:00 pm. A win its their opener will move the All-Stars into a Saturday morning battle against the winner of the Lexington-Fayette contest, while an opening round loss would move the All-Stars into a loser’s bracket game against the loser of the Wicksburg-Central contest. If the All-Stars avoid early elimination, they will play again on Saturday either play in a winner’s bracket game at 4:00 pm or in a loser’s bracket clash at 2:00 pm. Five games are set for Sunday, with the finals set for Monday at 10:00 am. Teams in the annual statewide event include Suburban, Munford, Ohatchee, Cottonwood, Wicksburg, Central, Zion Chapel, Lamar County, Lexington and Fayette. Zion Chapel earned its spot at the state tournament by rolling past all opponents at the District Tournament and is determined to bring home a state title. Team members include Jackson Adcock, Brodie Stinson, Mason Stewart, Preston Eddins, Austin Jordan, Kavan Brown, Tyler Bass, Brady Flowers, Ian Herbert, Luke Caldwell, Joseph LeGear and Alex Wilson. Coaches are Dustin Stinson, Jeremy Flowers and Jeremiah Eddins.
